Description
Shigeru Kawai SK2
Shigeru Kawai SK2. The Millennium III Action includes components made of ABS-Carbon, a composite material created by infusing carbon fiber into our renowned ABS Styran.
The ABS-Carbon is incredibly robust and rigid, allowing for the creation of action parts that are lighter without sacrificing the strength of the Shigeru Kawai SK2.
Spruce is the ideal material for the keys – lightweight yet extremely strong for its weight.
It responds with minimal flexibility and exceptional consistency, conveying every subtle nuance of the pianist’s interpretation while remaining stable over years of intensive use.
The length of each key has been extended to facilitate playing and provide a more uniform response from the front to the back of the playing surface.
Key rods are also designed with a slightly higher profile for maximum rigidity and offer greater power in the Shigeru Kawai SK2.

Mature soundboards: kigarashi
Fully natural wood drying. The soundboard of the Shigeru Kawai SK2, specially fitted in a Shigeru piano, is made from the finest piece, matured by the traditional Kigarashi method that uses only the forces of time and nature to allow the wood to reach a state of natural balance.
It is the duration of this meticulous process that gives Shigeru pianos their unique quality and tonal richness.
